Manos Unidas por El Salvador
Manos Unidas por El Salvador (Hands United for El Salvador) is a corporate social investment program created in 2004 by PADF and Banco Agrícola of El Salvador to channel community remittances to development initiatives focused on rural education. With the help of U.S.-based Salvadoran immigrant groups, Manos Unidas increases access to and improves the quality of education in El Salvador. Together, the immigrant groups and their home communities develop project proposals, and through a competitive selection process, the program provides small grants of up to $40,000 to cofinance selected projects. Aside from managing the funds provided by Banco Agrícola, PADF provides technical assistance to the beneficiary communities in El Salvador and training for the U.S.-based Salvadoran immigrant groups on various aspects of institutional development and project support.
