Our Work in Honduras
Preparing for Natural Disasters
In partnership with Citigroup, PADF rehabilitated and renovated two schools in Choloma, Honduras, to serve as emergency shelters and distribution points in the event of a natural disaster. The Disaster Management Alliance, sponsored by USAID, chose Choloma because the region regularly experiences severe flooding and did not have any suitable shelter facility. The renovated centers provide temporary shelter for more than 300 people and serve as a docking and distribution point for humanitarian assistance for thousands of area residents.

Many other activities in Honduras as part of the Disaster Management Alliance include dam and riverbed reinforcement, river containment and levee repair, and other infrastructure restoration and construction projects.
