PADF’s efforts to assist Colombian displaced persons in Venezuela concentrate on three border states: Apure, Tachira and Zulia. We work with the Jesuit Refugees Service (SJR), Caritas organizations, the Red Cross, local NGO counterparts and governmental institutions to deliver emergency kits, including personal hygiene, food and health packets, to newly arriving Colombians. In Apure state alone, over 9,000 people directly benefited from distributed kits. Other work focuses on providing safe water to communities, rehabilitating water networks, and providing workforce and skills training for Colombians to integrate themselves into the Venezuelan work force, with special attention paid to female heads of household.
