Ending Poverty and Social Exclusion

With support from EMC and Royal Caribbbean Cruises Ltd., PADF partnered with COPRODELI, a Peruvian development foundation based in the port city of Callao that works to end poverty and social exclusion in Peru. Through this project COPRODELI created a network of chemistry and biology laboratories in educational institutions that members of local low-income communities may freely access. With the funds, COPRODELI was able to purchase the equipment needed to establish and replenish existing chemistry and biology laboratories in the target institutions, which has improved how students learn about science, technology and the environment. With added hands-on experience, students can now use the laboratory equipment to conduct science experiments and basic research. This project benefited over 800 students. Several communities located in the slum areas within the district of Ventanilla, in Callao, benefitted from this project, including San Juan Macia, San Francisco Solano, and San Martin.
