Frank Kanayet Yépes

1st Vice President

Chairman and CEO
Grupo GPC Holding
Bogotá, Colombia

Frank Kanayet is Chairman of the Board and co-founder of Petrotesting Group, a Colombian-based energy group with operations in Mexico and Ecuador.  He has been in this role since 2004.  Following a recent merger, the company now operates under the name Grupo GPC Holding with Mr. Kanayet as its Chairman and CEO.

During his tenure, the company has grown from a small oil services company to a group of energy companies involving both oil exploration and refining, with a current production of 8000 BOE per day.  Under his leadership, the Group adopted a corporate social responsibility model that includes deriving clean energy with ethanol production from cassava.  A pilot plant with a production capacity of 20,000 liters per day went into production by June 2008.  This project will generate employment in rural areas highly affected by social conflict in Colombia, and is a cornerstone of its commitment to corporate social responsibility. Petrotesting Group has also adopted the international Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights established by the United States and the United Kingdom.

Before joining the Group as CEO in 1991, Mr. Kanayet spent years with Schlumberger Limited, the world’s largest oilfield services corporation operating in 80 countries.  His roles included Personnel Training Manager for Europe; Branch Manager for Nigeria; Technical Manager for Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia; Branch Manager and Field Engineer in Colombia.

Mr. Kanayet is well regarded in the energy industry for his ongoing innovations, for his role in developing Colombia’s oil industry, for creating the Exploration Fund of which he is a board member, and for his commitment to and active participation in corporate social responsibility.

Mr. Kanayet received his degree in Electronic Engineering from Javeriana University and completed graduate studies at Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program (OPM).  He is fluent in English and Spanish, and speaks conversational French.

In 2009, Mr. Kanayet was elected Second Vice President of the Pan American Development Foundation.
