Director of Communications and Public Affairs
Mr. Mayr is responsible for PADF's overall external and internal communications. In that capacity, he oversees and implements strategic communications plans for specific programs, coordinates communications with country and regional programs, and manages organizational branding, message development, and communication strategy for fundraising and program outreach campaigns.
Before joining PADF, Mr. Mayr worked at ADRA International, a Maryland-based non-governmental organization, where he was Director for Public Awareness, leading the agency's public relations activities and providing communications support to field offices. Prior to that, he was Assistant Director for Marketing and Development at ADRA, supporting fundraising and communications initiatives. He also worked in Chile as a freelance writer and photographer, and as a medical technologist in the Department of Pathology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, in the areas of Hematology, Coagulation, and Clinical Chemistry.
Mr. Mayr is a Chilean and German national. He has traveled throughout North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Asia from where he has reported on various development issues. He speaks English, Spanish, and French, and has working knowledge of Portuguese.
Mr. Mayr holds a Master's degree in Writing from the Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Washington Adventist University, and a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from Andrews University. He is also a graduate of Kettering College in Ohio and has studied at the Center on Philanthropy's Fundraising School at Indiana University.
