Area of Work

Civil Society

Civil society is an essential part of our social fabric. They are non-profits, associations, community groups and other non-governmental organizations that have deep ties to the neighborhoods they serve or represent.

PADF works closely with civil society to carry out important programs throughout the region. They are a critical link in PADF’s implementing sustainable economic development initiatives, reducing tensions in conflictive areas, collaborating to improve communities, training non-political leaders and responding to natural disasters.

PADF has worked with more than 5,000 civil society groups in every country of the Western Hemisphere. PADF, which is non-profit and non-partisan, works with organizations that are independent and not affiliated with or supported by political parties.

HUMAN RIGHTS PADF is combating human rights abuses and supporting victims of violence in Haiti through direct intervention, supporting NGOs, strengthening the government and raising awareness.

TRAININGProfessional journalists are learning investigative reporting techniques through a PADF-supported project with two prestigious associations.

LAND TITLES Small-plot farmers in Bolivia were able to obtain titles to their property, reduce community conflicts and collaborate through an innovative program.

PEACE
In Colombia's northern province of Guajira, teachers hope students will learn to shoot video instead of weapons and that education will steer them out of poverty.
