Area of Work

Natural Disasters

Half of the top 20 countries vulnerable to high human and economic losses due to natural disasters are in Latin America and the Caribbean. PADF is prepared to respond.

When a disaster or humanitarian crisis happens, PADF mobilizes immediate relief funds from individuals, corporate partners, non-profit organizations and multinational donors.

During the relief and reconstruction phases, PADF works closely with municipal leaders, community organizations, the private sector and civil defense agencies to identify the highest priorities and deliver programs and resources with the greatest positive impact.

PADF also trains communities, businesses and the public sector to be better prepared and protected for the next major natural disasters. For every $1 spent on mitigation, society saves $4 on reconstruction.

PADF is the nongovernmental disaster relief arm of the Organization of American States.
