Luisa Villegas

Deputy Senior Programs Director, South America

Ms. Villegas is a seasoned program director with more than eight years of experience in designing, managing, and evaluating international development programs. As South America Program Director, Ms. Villegas acts as the liaison between field offices and local partners, and headquarters; and also between headquarters and donors. Over the years, she has actively participated in the management of multiple U.S. Government-funded democracy and governance grants and contracts in countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia. Ms. Villegas also manages a private-sector funded portfolio of projects in Brazil.

Prior to joining PADF, Ms. Villegas worked at Partners of the Americas where she contributed to the management of various cooperation initiatives, as well as resource development and communications for the international NGO.

Born and raised in Colombia, she has first-hand experience and knowledge of the Latin American context. She has been actively engaged with community organizations in her native country.

Ms. Villegas holds a Master's degree in Political Science with emphasis in International Politics from Georgia Southern University and a Social Communications and Journalism degree from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, in Colombia. She is a recipient of the Georgia Rotary Student Program scholarship.
