Rice Donations bring Smiles to Central America

A young girl from the colonia of Campo Verde, El Salvador, is one of the beneficiaries of our in-kind donation program. In late 2014, PADF worked with Feed My Starving Children to send a donation of rice to El Salvador.

In total, we sent 652 boxes of fortified rice and 72 boxes of mashed potatoes, enough for more than 140,800 meals. Our partners in El Salvador included the Salvadoran Institute for Children and Adolescents (ISNA), the Salvadoran Institute Integral Rehabilitation (ISRI) and Sara Zaldivar Asylum. The First Lady of the Republic of El Salvador, Margarita Villalta de Sánchez, was on hand to accept the donation as director and president of the board of ISNA.

PADF also sent a donation of Manna Pack meals to Guatemala in partnership with the Juan Bautista Gutierrez Foundation and Feed My Starving Children. These meals contain fortified rice with soy protein, vitamins and minerals. More than 1,200 boxes were donated, allowing the preparation of more than 270,000 meals to help combat malnutrition. This video highlights the many different organizations and communities that benefitted as a result of the donation.
