The Haitian Hometown Associations Resource Group (HHTARG) announces the launch, on October 15th, of the the 2014 Haitian Diaspora Investment and Engagement Research Program, a collaborative effort between the HHTARG, the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as well as local communities and businesses in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago and Miami.
This program seeks to generate new understanding about Diaspora investment opportunities and to assist policymakers, NGOs, Diaspora entrepreneurs and researchers to further integrate Diaspora voices within development conversations.
The HHTARG will launch the Diaspora Investment and Engagement Research Program on October 15th, 2014 via a Webinar at 7pm EDT where participants are able to discuss the goals and objectives of the program and outline how the Haitian Diaspora can participate and voice their opinions. The HHTARG also distributed a Diaspora Investment Survey earlier this month exploring the investment habits, motivations, obstacles and perceptions of the Haitian Diaspora. "This exercise is a great opportunity for members of the Haitian Diaspora to share their views on how they could be engaged and what form of investments is interesting to them. The final White Paper will be a good guideline for anyone thinking of engaging the Haitian Diaspora," declared Katleen Felix, President of the HHTARG.
Currently Atlanta is scheduled for November 1st and Chicago is scheduled for October 25th. Dates for other cities will be announced shortly.
Following the Interactive Diaspora Tour, the HHTARG will publish a document for policymakers, NGOs, and Diaspora entrepreneurs invested in a better future for Haiti.
