Washington, DC (October 1, 2021) – The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is delighted to welcome Alexandra Aguirre as the new President of the Board, effective today, October 1, 2021.

Aguirre Alexandra

“I am proud to take on this important leadership role at PADF as the organization prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary,” said Aguirre. “PADF’s mission to make Latin America and the Caribbean stronger for current and future generations by serving the most vulnerable communities and investing resources throughout the hemisphere is critical as our region recovers from the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Aguirre, a native of Guatemala with a professional career across the Americas, follows a legacy of PADF Board Presidents, including Kathy Barclay (2019-2021), Luis Ubiñas (2015-2019), Ruth Espey-Romero (2013-2015), Frank Gómez (2002-2004, 2009-2011, 2012-2013), Amb. Alexander Watson (2000-2002, 2006-2009), and Robert McGee (1990-1992), among others. Aguirre has been on the Board of Trustees of PADF since 2015, serving also as Secretary and General Counsel. As with all PADF Trustees, she serves on a pro bono basis.

She is currently a partner in Morrison & Foerster’s Corporate Department, focusing primarily on the areas of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, cross-border financing transactions, and private equity investments in Latin America and the United States. Aguirre also advises families in all matters relating to running a successful privately held business by providing corporate advice tailored to family businesses, including corporate and family governance, structure policies and processes, succession planning, building and preserving business value and equity, executive compensation, and exit strategies.

Prior to Morrison & Foerster, she was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and an associate at Hunton & Williams. Aguirre brings 16 years of professional experience to the Board and will provide strategic guidance to the PADF leadership team as the organization continues to expand its footprint and diversify funding sources.
