PADF supports legal education, court modernization and hurricane recovery in Jamaica

The Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) served as one of the Sponsors for the Jamaican Bar Associations’ Annual Flagship Conference which took place in Trelawny, Jamaica between November 13 and 16, 2025.

The Conference featured a presentation by Project Consultants Jeff Newman, retired New Jersey Appellate Court Administrator of Collins Ijoma and Associates and PADF Jamaica’s Senior Justice Advisor Althea McBean on Ethical Considerations in the Recording of Digital Court Proceedings on November 14, which was attended by 70 members of the legal professional.  This presentation was done to further advance the objectives of the PROJAM III Project to strengthen Jamaica’s Criminal Justice system and support the modernization and efficiency in managing court cases.

In addition, the Bar Association gifted over 150 care packages to staff of the Oceans Coral Hotel as well as citizens affected by Hurricane Melissa in the wider Trelawny communities.  PADF’s support contributed to this effort.  Donations and pledges were also made by members of the Bar to support the recovery effort for persons adversely affected by the hurricane.

The PROJAM Project is supported by the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Bureau of the United States Embassy and implemented by the Pan American Development Foundation.
