We believe that every person should have access to health services and nutrition. We are dedicated to providing food security and promoting healthy behaviors and access to services for vulnerable populations throughout the hemisphere. We partner with the public and private sector to strengthen the capacity of communities and local health providers and promote the use of sustainable food sources.
PADF’s work in WASH has four components:
Sanitation Infrastructure
PADF improves sanitation infrastructure by extending water supply networks, establishing community distribution points, and building sanitary facilities such as toilets and handwashing stations. We also rehabilitate water and sanitation systems and establish local water management committees that receive training on infrastructure maintenance to ensure long-term sustainability.
Hygiene Education
PADF promotes good hygiene practices, carrying out hygiene awareness campaign as well as training on how to properly dispose of wastewater.
Enterprise Development
PADF supports small and medium-sized enterprises in the WASH sector to bring potable water to underserved communities. Leveraging private investments, we support the development of small and medium enterprise sector and help create new jobs.
